ENROLLMENT PROCESS

Students may enroll at Kansas City Restoration School any time during the school year, subject to availability.

We invite you to get familiar with the enrollment process. If you are interested in enrolling your child, please use the form below to contact us. Once we are ready to open, we will get in touch with you.

STEP 1: Learn about Our Model

KC Restoration School is a Sudbury-inspired school. Sudbury schools are surprisingly different from most other public and private schools.

Read, watch or listen to some of the abundant information on the model.

Our website and especially our FAQ and Blog & Resources page are excellent places to get started. We also have a Facebook Group filled with excellent articles and resources on the model.

If you would still like to learn more after looking through our site, please contact us and we can send you some additional links, and answer preliminary questions.

STEP 2: Let’s Get to Know Each Other

When you are ready to move forward, call or contact us to schedule a tour and an initial interview.

The initial interview is a chance for us to get to know you and your family, and for you to get to know us and ask us questions about the school. This interview is not a test or a means of selecting certain kinds of students. It is a frank discussion during which all parties can make sure that Kansas City Restoration School is a good fit for the student and the family.

There is no fee for this visit, and it creates no obligation to pursue enrollment. We find that it’s helpful to most students for all involved parents and/or guardians (even if non-custodial) to attend an interview prior to enrollment, whether together or in separate meetings.

Once we are ready to open, as part of the initial interview, you will get a tour of our school (someday... during school hours so that you can see the model in action.) Interviews typically last about two hours, but we are happy to take as much time as you need to make sure all questions are answered.

STEP 3:  KCRS Sample Session: Week 1 Adventure

All students come for a trial week of learning through Equity, Freedom & Reality

Week 1 Adventure sessions will begin  June 7, 2021. The enrollment application opens Monday, March 22nd at 12 pm noon. All students will complete a trial week prior to being invited to enroll.  This is to ensure that our school is the just-right fit for your family and child(ren). After your trial week, we will have a conversation that will determine if enrollment is the next step, or maybe another week on a trial basis makes sense, or maybe KCRS isn't the right school and the journey ends here.  At this point, we will have an enrollment interview.

STEP 4:  Ready to Enroll!

Guardians are expected to complete a series of training experiences, prior to the enrollment contract being signed. This is to ensure that we are all on the same page about our school's culture, governance, freedom, and responsibilities.

At the conclusion of your Enrollment Interview or soon after, we’ll invite you to enroll or we’ll tell you why we cannot offer admission.

STEP 5:  Registration  Meeting & Paper Party!!

Contact us to schedule your registration meeting to complete your enrollment. At your registration meeting, we will go over general paperwork and discuss tuition payment options. You will sign the contract and make an initial deposit.

We’ll send you the forms to be filled out before the meeting to expedite the process.

Custodial parents and all enrolling students from your family should attend the registration meeting, which usually takes no more than an hour.
